Where the data comes from

Every facility on this site is licensed by the California Department of Social Services, and every listing links to that facility’s actual state record — license number, capacity, and inspection history. That’s the floor for every page here, whether or not the facility has told us anything else.

What most of the internet doesn’t have

More than half the licensed facilities in this county have no website at all — nothing a family can find by searching the facility’s own name. For those homes, there is little or nothing else detailed about them online, and this directory’s state-record page fills that gap. That’s the plainest reason I can give you for why this exists: not to compete with a marketing budget, but to put a real record where there was next to nothing.

How this is paid for

Being listed here is free, and it stays free. There is no referral commission, no placement fee, and no charge to a facility for appearing accurately.

The directory is funded because a small number of the businesses listed here separately choose to hire Promoflix LLC, my marketing company, for help with their own marketing. That work never affects a listing’s position or its score. I keep those two things apart on purpose — a directory that quietly rewards its own clients has stopped being a directory.

What I will not do

No referral commissions, ever

National referral sites typically collect something close to a resident’s first month of rent when a family they refer moves in. I don’t take that money, so I have no reason to steer anyone toward a particular facility.

Sponsorship never buys a ranking

Some businesses pay for a labeled Featured placement. It is always labeled, it never changes what we could verify about a listing, and it never reorders search results or comparisons.

Every fact says where it came from

License details come from the California Department of Social Services. Where a fact came from a facility’s own website, the listing says so and links to it. Where I don’t have something, the page says that instead of leaving a blank that reads as “none.”

No invented numbers

I don’t publish a cost figure I can’t cite, and I don’t estimate one from a national average. If the cost guide looks empty, that’s because I don’t yet have local figures I can stand behind.

If something here is wrong

Wrong data is the fastest way for a directory to become useless, so I treat it as a serious bug, not a housekeeping task. If you run one of these businesses, the quickest fix is to find your listing and claim it — that puts the correction in my hands with a record of who sent it.
